Exploring the potential of pigeon droppings as a raw material for design.

 

Pigeon droppings are often seen as a dirty and problematic waste material. Found abundantly in urban environments, they are typically viewed as a nuisance, damaging buildings and requiring constant cleanup. However, what if this overlooked byproduct could be transformed into something valuable?

 

Through experimentation with different materials and techniques such as lacquer, epoxy, and latex, we aim to transform the droppings into valuable materials that can be used in a range of design applications. Whether as a biodegradable composite, a pigment source, or even a structural element, this project challenges perceptions of waste and seeks to contribute to a more circular design approach.

 

By shifting the narrative around pigeon droppings, we hope to inspire new ways of thinking about urban waste streams, material reuse, and the hidden potential of unconventional resources.
