Patty van den Elshout is a multi-disciplinary designer and photographer. Her design philosophy centers on material innovation to create tactile, sculptural pieces that challenge conventional notions of form and function. She draws inspiration from the beauty and mystery of nature, exploring themes of transformation and metamorphosis using texture and form in combination with the movement of light. The sense of tactility plays an important role in her designs as she strives to find a balance between light and dark, smooth and textured, and perfection and imperfection.
She explores the intersections between art, design, photography, and materials. Whether working with ceramics, textiles, or photography, Patty’s intuitive and hands-on approach allows her to experiment with different materials and techniques.
BACKGROUND
The designer graduated cum-laude at SintLucas College for Creative Craftsmanship in 2019, specializing in ceramics. There she learned to create high-quality products by hand using different materials and techniques focussing on ceramics, textiles, and photography.
In January 2021, she founded Studio Patty van den Elshout.
She completed her BA studies in 2023 at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
